Day Of The Dead 18
This year marks 18 years since our first Day of the Dead mix. We continue to search for the music that has defined this series. One thing we noticed, a lot of music is being re-released. When looking for music that was released this year, we found a lot of older songs. In fact, almost all the music we found, was not new at all. Our favorite artists are not making music.
It got me thinking. Why are the biggest artists, not making new music? So we dedicate this mix to the lost careers, stopped music making and broken dreams of the music industry. We bought about half the music on the mix on Bandcamp, the rest on Beatport. The releases are not always new. There are songs on here that came out in 2017. Some that came out during the early 20’s. All of it was released again this year.
As you listen, please remember the producers who are no longer with us. Harvey McKay comes to mind, and as I am writing this, another loss. Juan Atkins. Without him, none of our 18 years of mixes would ever have come to light. Rest in Power
